A happy, healthy
summer to 
remember!

During Summer 2021, Wakefield Council worked in partnership with voluntary and community organisations, local schools and childcare providers as
part of the WF Happy Healthy
Holidays programme, funded by the
DfE to provide a summer of free
activities and food for children and
families eligible for income –related
free school meals throughout the district.

The programme was aimed to reduce inactivity and

isolation experienced by many children across the

Wakefield district during the school holidays, as well

as providing children with healthy meals and

nutritional education.

Community Health & Wellbeing and FR PE Provision were proud to provide and amazing summer programme for children within the Wakefield area, including quality healthy food and an amazing array of activities that will kept children engaged during the summer holidays and beyond.

 

Our activities included:

  • Professional self defence course.

  • Kickboxing sessions with ex European
    and World champions.

  • MMA sessions with ex British champion, European champion, World champion and UFC veteran.

  • First aid sessions

  • Healthy cooking classes

  • Fitness sessions

  • Sports sessions

  • Minor games/ fun games
