Transforming Rehabilitation
Through the Power of Sport
At CHW, we believe in building stronger futures through opportunity, purpose, and resilience. That’s why we created the World Prison Games® (WPG®) – a global initiative bringing fitness, teamwork, and discipline into secure establishments.
More than just a competition, the World Prison Games® harness the power of sport to inspire change, challenge stigma, and support rehabilitation. Over 12 months, individuals push their limits, develop discipline, and embrace positive growth – turning competition into a catalyst for personal transformation.
Addressing Barriers to Change
Secure establishments face more than issues of safety and rehabilitation. Violence, drug misuse, stress, and low morale are daily challenges. Boredom and inactivity often lead to poor mental health for individuals, while staff face rising pressure and strained relationships.

The World Prison Games® directly address these barriers by providing structured activity, purpose, and opportunity. Through sport, participants gain resilience, confidence, and improved wellbeing, while staff and residents build stronger, more positive connections.
A Global, Inclusive Movement
WPG® is designed to be as accessible as possible, with both bodyweight and equipment-based workouts ensuring every individual can take part. Performances are tracked on a secure digital platform, with global leaderboards, resources, and recognition for top competitors.

This unique initiative is supported by experts in fitness, rehabilitation, and prison education – with over 60 years of combined prison service experience. By uniting establishments worldwide, WPG® fosters a shared sense of achievement, community, and hope.

Developing Skills for Employment
The World Prison Games® are designed to create lasting impact that goes far beyond the competition floor. Every element of the Games provides individuals with opportunities to learn, grow, and prepare for life after prison. From discipline and teamwork to leadership and problem-solving, participants develop transferable skills that employers value and that help reduce the risk of reoffending.

Prison workshops play a vital role in bringing the Games to life. Banners, medals, certificates, and podiums are all produced inside establishments, giving participants real, hands-on experience in areas such as carpentry, printing, and design. These purposeful activities not only support the Games themselves but also build confidence, a strong work ethic, and industry-relevant skills that individuals can take into employment upon release.

Fundraising Through WPG®
Giving back is at the heart of the World Prison Games®. Each year, participating establishments choose a charity, raise funds, and track progress on our global leaderboard. The top fundraiser earns a free WPG® subscription for the following year – rewarding commitment, teamwork, and social impact.

By combining rehabilitation, skill-building, and community giving, WPG® empowers individuals to create positive change for themselves and others.
