Beyond Access: How Digital Health & Wellbeing Can Build Confidence
Health and wellbeing support only works if people can access it. In a secure environment, there can be many barriers between someone and the information, resources or support they need – from language and availability to confidence and digital skills.
That’s why accessibility is such an important part of EMPOWER. The platform gives people access to fitness, rehabilitation, wellbeing, health education and other useful resources on demand, whenever they’re ready to engage. And with content translatable into different languages, EMPOWER can help make that access more inclusive.
But there’s another benefit to putting digital resources directly into people’s hands: they’re learning how to use technology too. Every time someone navigates the platform, searches for information, engages in a course, follows a workout or explores a new resource, they’re building familiarity and confidence with digital technology.
So while they’re learning about health, wellbeing and life skills, they’re also developing digital literacy skills. And that matters, because digital confidence is increasingly important for life beyond custody - from accessing services and managing everyday tasks to learning, communicating and finding employment.
More access. More learning. More digital confidence. More opportunity. That’s the wider impact of digital health and wellbeing.
