Empowering Recovery and Resilience at HMP Ashfield

This week, Jonathan and Andy from Community Health and Wellbeing (CHW) had the privilege of spending the day at HMP Ashfield, one of our valued partners, to run focus groups, gather direct feedback from prisoners and staff, and promote CHW_Empower – the world’s only in-cell health and wellbeing platform.

The visit provided powerful insights into how CHW_Empower is making a real difference behind the walls.

What we heard:

✅ Prisoners shared how the platform has helped them recover from injuries, manage ongoing pain, and improve their mental wellbeing through guided meditation, yoga, and fitness content.

✅ Many are now preparing to lead their own peer-supported wellbeing sessions, using CHW_Empower as a foundation – with yoga emerging as a particular favourite.

✅ Healthcare teams spoke about their plans to integrate CHW_Empower into daily care, using its targeted resources to support recovery, rehabilitation, and overall wellbeing.

These conversations remind us exactly why CHW_Empower exists - to put meaningful tools for self-management, motivation, and recovery directly into the hands of those who need them most.

A huge thank you to Lucy Brundrett and the team at HMP Ashfield for their time, enthusiasm, and commitment to improving prisoner wellbeing.

If you’re a leader in another prison and would like to explore how CHW_Empower can support your establishment, we’d love to connect.

Together, let’s continue to empower recovery, resilience, and rehabilitation –from the inside out.
